Annual Lt. Thomas Kelly Memorial Scholarship Dinner 2011

On Saturday, October 15, 2011 alumni, friends, and supporters gathered in the school auditorium to remember and honor Lt. Thomas Kelly. Firefighter Kelly, a member of Ladder Co. 105 in Brooklyn, was a graduate of St. Mary Gate of Heaven, Class of 1976. He perished in the tragedy of September 11^th. This year marks the 10^th anniversary of the events of September 11, 2001.

The money raised at this event funded partial scholarships in his honor for two 7^th graders towards their tuition for 8^th grade. The boys and girls of the 7th grade participate in the process by writing an essay, undergo an interview, and receive letters of recommendations from their teachers.

There were approximately 200 people in attendance. Food was provided by Russo's on the Bay and Vetro Restaurant. Ronnie Ponella, Class of 1976, headed the band which provided the musical entertainment.
